Nicoustic AS

Triple perfection: Fraunhofer IKTS and the spin-off management and investment company CoFounder founded the deep-tech venture »Nicoustic« with the support of Equinor Ventures. The start-up aims to provide solutions for acoustic level and integrity monitoring of pressure vessels worldwide, enabling operators to reduce maintenance costs, optimize production and improve safety.

The special feature: Through the combination of Equinor, Fraunhofer and CoFounder, customer, technology and management views were matched. Nicoustic is thus a »perfect example of how a next-level technology transfer can emerge from the combination of validated customer needs, world-class technology and external management, « says Jan Biti, managing partner at CoFounder and Chair of the Board of Nicoustic.

Special ultrasonic waves can be used to efficiently monitor long objects, such as pipelines, for damage. Researchers at Fraunhofer IKTS have now found a new application for this now established method and launched it on the market with the recently spin-off company Nicoustic: the determination of fill levels in closed containers.
