Transportation of living cells — a new generation of portable incubators

Cellbox Solutions was founded in 2017. The company focuses on innovative logistics solutions for the global biomedical industry. The CO2 incubator developed by Cellbox provides a safe, secure environment for transporting living cells and biological structures under lab conditions. This product originates with what is today the Fraunhofer Research Institution for Individualized and Cell-Based Medical Engineering IMTE in Lübeck. A team of engineers and biologists came together for the new development project, the Cellbox.

The team was successful with a grant proposal for 2.5 million euros as part of the EIC Accelerator program funded by the European Innovation Council, which also plans to contribute 6 million euros in matching funds to the next funding round as a partner. Cellbox is preparing for series A funding in 2024.
